edenlight is a music duo made up of the husband and wife team of Sue and Dave Bicko. They have been playing original music in a variety of public venues as well as prisons since around 2000. They are active musicians and have recorded five albums of original music as well as a Christmas EP. Check out the Links page to hear their tunes.
The YELOline Initiative is a prison outreach of edenlight. It operates as a 501 C-3. It's goals are to take the music of edenlight into prisons and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those behind bars, support the work of prison chaplains, represent the vibrant prison churches to those on the outside, and just play good, original music that helps inmates feel spiritual and emotional relief from harsh prison environments.
It is the name of the first love song Dave wrote for Sue.
In one of the facilities where we perform there are six, phone booth sized cells on the balcony of each cell block. Inmates, shackled hands and feet are escorted into the small cells. A yellow line is painted on the cement floor about three feet in front of the cells. For these men, this is where church takes place; six imprisoned and shackled men at a time.
We are not allowed to physically cross the painted yellow line. But for an hour we play music that breaks down that barrier and brings peace and hope, conviction and encouragement. That yellow line is disturbing and heartbreaking. But for us it turned into a song which turned into the intent of what we do: Take the reality of Jesus Christ to the deepest, darkest place and leave his hope behind.
Yes, we will play just about anywhere that it is feasible for us to play. Contact us and book a show.
